Child Care Provider Job Description
Job Type: Part-time Hours (primarily during monthly parent workshops and classes)
Starting Pay: Starting at $20/hr
Job SummaryArk Valley Preschool is seeking a caring and reliable Part-Time Child Care Provider to supervise children while their parents attend monthly workshops. This role requires an individual who enjoys working with young children, creating a safe and engaging environment, and ensuring a positive experience for both kids and families.
ResponsibilitiesChild Supervision & Safety
- Actively supervise children in all settings, including transitions, indoor/outdoor play, and meals.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and hazard-free environment.
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including sanitization, handwashing, and emergency procedures.
- Address and report safety concerns, injuries, or incidents to the Lead Teacher or Director promptly.
Engagement & Support
- Facilitate age-appropriate activities while parents participate in workshops.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to children experiencing separation anxiety.
- Assist with basic needs such as snacks, handwashing, and bathroom breaks.
- Model kindness, empathy, and cooperation to foster a positive learning environment.
Communication with Families
- Build strong relationships by providing brief updates on children’s activities and well-being.
- Use the ‘sandwich method’ to communicate concerns—balancing positive feedback with constructive input.
- Relay relevant information from parents to the Lead Teacher to support continuity of care.
Classroom Maintenance & Organization
- Encourage children to take responsibility for cleaning up their play areas.
- Restock and organize materials, toys, and supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in classroom bathrooms, sanitizing and tidying at least twice daily.
- Ensure the space is cleaned and tidied at the end of each session.
Fostering Social-Emotional Growth
- Support children in identifying and regulating emotions using tools like emotion charts, cozy corners, and sensory activities.
- Facilitate activities that promote self-regulation, autonomy, and positive peer interactions.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, or similar setting preferred.
- Patience, reliability, and a nurturing approach.
- Ability to work well with young children and respond to their needs appropriately.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check.
