We are seeking an experienced webmaster to manage the state’s most comprehensive civil legal information website, which currently attracts approximately 30,000 monthly visitors. The successful candidate will maintain website functionality, create content using document assembly software, and ensure ADA compliance across digital platforms.
Job Description:
ARLawHelp.org is the state’s most comprehensive source for civil legal information and self-help forms, attracting approximately 30,000 site visits each month. As the ARLawHelp.org Webmaster you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining the statewide website. Primarily, you will be responsible for ensuring the website remains functional, up-to-date, ADA compliant, and user-friendly. Secondarily, you will assist with converting pro se forms to an interactive format, using gavel.io. From time to time, you will also provide support for other websites operated by Legal Aid of Arkansas and Arkansas Access to Justice.
Responsibilities:
- Content Development:
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Program Coordinator of Arkansas Access to Justice, in conjunction with other staff and partners, to identify and create content utilizing document assembly, specifically using the gavel.io platform.
- Write and edit content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with the organization’s mission and objectives.
- Collaborate with staff members and community partners to gather information and updates for website content.
- Website Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of arlawhelp.org.
- Regularly update website content, assuring currency of the information provided and including news, events, resources, and other relevant information on arlawhelp.org.
- Ensure website functionality, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise (all websites).
- SEO and Analytics:
- Implement SEO best practices to improve the website search engine rankings and visibility.
- Monitor website traffic and user engagement using analytics tools.
- Use data insights to optimize website performance and user experience.
- Design and User Experience:
- Collaborate with staff to enhance the website’s design and user interface.
- Ensure that websites are accessible, inclusive, and user-friendly for all visitors – including those with disabilities.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to make continuous improvements.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement security measures to protect the websites from cyber threats and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to website security and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) or relevant legal education preferred
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear and compelling website content.
- Proficiency in or ability to learn LibGuides (an automated content management and curation platform) and gavel.io (automation software used for document assembly).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience as a webmaster or similar role, preferably in a non-profit or legal environment.
- Experience with SEO techniques and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Experience with web development languages and technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices.
Salary:
- $55,000 – $75,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
