Description
- Promptly decontaminates instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's instructions for use.
- Washes, organizes and sterilizes instruments following established procedures.
- Assembles and packages instrument trays, linen packs and supply items.
- Assembles instrument trays, according to count sheet and AAMI standards, locating missing items and communicating with lead/Manager regarding missing instruments or need for changes to the count sheet.
- Operates sterilizers and monitors sterilization gauges, charts, tapes and biological/chemical indicators to ensure adequate sterilization. Notifies lead/manager of any concerns.
- Performs as resource SPD tech and assists with oversight of quality processes according to AAMI standards and manager's instructions.
- Maintain records for all sterilization quality control and equipment testing results, ensures records are accurate, reports differences to Quality Coordinator/Manager.
- Ensures sterilizer carts are maintained, clean and in working order.
- Helps to ensure that a clean, safe, and orderly patient/department environment exists in compliance with infection control, safety, OSHA, and other regulatory processes.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the appropriate department.
- Acts as a mentor and trainer for new hire technicians to maintain excellent quality in production, outcomes, and positive teamwork
- Performs other duties as assigned.
