As an integral team member of the Communications Division, the Communications Specialist is responsible for researching, editing and producing written and video content for a range of creative, technical and documentary purposes of the Arkansas Highway Commission and the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).

- Work with External Information Coordinator to prepare Department PowerPoint presentations and/or in other visual media (i.e. displays and handouts).
- Provide audio/visual support during presentations and speeches when necessary.
- Work with the Division staff members to create, edit and evaluate content for use on social media.
- Assist Media Communications Manager and other Division staff members with researching and writing news releases, letters, speeches and articles.
- Assist Videographer with writing, shooting, and editing audio/video productions.
- Travel to worksites and locations statewide to assist with video shoots or scheduled events.
Minimum Requirements
Education and experience: The educational equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the area of responsibility OR the educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school plus four years of related work experience.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats. Ability to work quickly with frequently shifting priorities and deadlines. Attention to detail with strong analytical skills. Results-oriented and driven to execute with a high level of accuracy in tight timeframes. Process-oriented and highly organized with the ability to help keep projects on track. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated knowledge of PowerPoint. Ability to utilize social media tools and Internet-related programs. Ability to accurately and comprehensively plan, research, develop and assemble reports and presentations. Knowledge photography and/or videography practices and techniques preferred.
Working conditions: Office environment. Occasional travel statewide.
Licenses, registrations and certifications: Valid driver’s license.
