Job Description
The Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is a key role within the Arkansas Government Job, responsible for assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving their employment goals. This position requires a strong understanding of vocational education, job placement, and career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and score various tests to determine vocational and academic placement of students.
- Provide career counseling to students regarding chosen vocation, helping them assess interpretation and program selection, and sharing information on financial aid, social agencies providing support, and other educational institutions.
- Counsel special needs students and at-risk students individually or in group sessions concerning social, civic, personal, and educational problems, and refer to alternate sources for assistance.
- Work with instructors to develop Individual Written Vocational Plans for special needs and handicapped students and monitor progress by observing student's advancement.
- Recruit students by developing and making presentations on school curriculum to regional junior and senior high classes, counselors, civic organizations, social service agencies, and various other interests groups.
- Monitor and document job market information, including local industry needs and vocational skill requirements for employment, and maintain confidential student records.
Requirements:
- The formal education equivalent of a master's degree in education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or counselor education; plus two years of experience in counseling or a related field.
- Licenses: Must be licensed as a Professional Counselor by the Board of Examiners in Counseling in accordance with ACA 17-27-301 or certified as a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in accordance with the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
Estimated Salary Range: $45,010 - $71,792 per annum.
