Job Summary:
The Practical Nursing Faculty, acting under the direction of the Program Director, ensure excellence in teaching and learning by providing high quality, relevant, and valued instruction in their assigned classes. The Practical Nursing Faculty is a full time position. Responsibilities include instruction, course development, clinicals, participation in committees and activities, and other duties as assigned.
Position Specific:
PROVIDES INSTRUCTION:
- Engages in teaching activities.
- Develops and implements teaching resources and provides instruction for assigned courses, and other courses as necessary.
- Develops lesson plans and organizes instructional activities.
- Engages in clinical rotations and management of preceptor program.
- Utilizes appropriate learner centered instructional methods, technology and learning theories and classroom management ideology in all classes.
- Responsibility for the evaluation of student learning.
- Creates accurate records of evaluation and course work, including attendance.
- Works effectively with the Program Director to enhance and promote curriculum and the Program.
- Engages students in the advising process.
- Maintains documentation of student advisement.
- Evaluates graduation progress and completion.
- Assists nursing program faculty with problem solving to support optimal student outcomes.
PARTICIPATES IN INSTITUTIONAL ENGAGEMENT & ADVANCEMENT:
- Identifies avenues for growth for PN Program.
- Coordinates with faculty, staff, and colleagues within AHCA on initiatives or projects.
- Serves on committees as requested.
- Promotes a positive work environment and collaborative working relationships.
ENGAGES IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- Collaborates with business, industry, and professional organizations in order to understand changes in the field and explore future trends.
- Serves on community, state and professional committees and boards.
- Maintains professional certification, licensure or credentials.
- Attends various meetings, conventions, and seminars.
DEMONSTRATES PROFESSIONAL AND QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE:
- Establishes and maintains relationships with nursing leaders in acute care, long-term care and academic settings.
- Maintains confidentiality, positive communication, accurate records, and an organized, safe working environment.
- Exhibits flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to change and maintain current technology skills.
- Treat all who choose to use the Program’s resources with dignity.
- Challenge all learners to maximize their potential.
Education, Certificates, Licenses and Experience:
- Current Unincumbered Arkansas RN License – required upon start date
- Degree or diploma RN required; BSN - preferred
- Minimum 2 years registered nursing experience as RN - required
- Teaching experience for nursing education or professional development - preferred
- Must be able to travel to clinical sites and work the assigned number of clinical hours
- Must maintain education and clinical competencies in areas of instructional responsibilities
- Current knowledge of practice
- Required – current CPR certification

Physical Requirements:
- Primarily indoors except when traveling between campuses or being off-campus
- Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires independence and discretion
- Occasional evening and weekend hours
- Some off-campus travel required
