Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Lab Technician to join our pain management clinic. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting and processing a variety of patient specimens and performing basic clinical tasks to support the medical team. This includes taking vital signs and collecting urine, oral, and blood specimens in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and prepare patients for specimen collection in a professional and compassionate manner
- Accurately obtain and document patient vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, weight)
- Collect urine specimens following proper chain of custody procedures when applicable
- Collect oral fluid specimens for toxicology and other relevant testing
- Perform phlebotomy to obtain blood samples for various diagnostic purposes
- Label and prepare specimens for transport to outside laboratories or in-house processing
- Maintain specimen logs and ensure proper documentation and data entry
- Adhere to all clinical safety standards and infection control protocols
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab and work areas
- Communicate effectively with providers and nursing staff regarding abnormal findings or issues with collection
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant or Laboratory Technician training program preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Prior experience in a medical office, pain management, or clinical laboratory setting is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be comfortable working with patients of all ages and backgrounds
Work Environment:
- Clinical setting with direct patient interaction
- May require standing for extended periods and handling biohazardous materials
- Protective equipment must be worn as appropriate
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
