Student Success Coach Position
The Student Success Coach is a crucial role at Arkansas State University-Newport, responsible for advising students throughout their enrollment. This includes supporting students in developing knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs necessary for success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain an understanding of ASUN's programs, policies, and administrative processes to assist advisees with degree requirements and building schedules.
• Implement assessment of academic advising systems using EAB tools, such as SAP Academic Plans and advising rosters.
• Ensure students develop individualized academic plans using Degree Works and Navigate, identifying current academic status and required steps to reach academic goals.
• Coordinate with faculty to encourage early alerts and manage interventions to prevent students from entering SAP suspension.
• Manage students on SAP suspension by assisting with appeals and documentation, including completing revised academic plans to achieve satisfactory appeal processes.
• Develop student relationships and provide coaching, mentoring, advising, and support to encourage persistence and completion of academic goals.
• Proactively manage the student caseload through scheduled sessions in multiple communication channels (in-person, phone, email, text, virtual meetings).
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree
• Two years of experience working with college students or comparable combination of education and experience
• Ability to relate to students of diverse backgrounds and experiences, with a commitment to student equity
• Knowledge of Banner, EAB advising tools, Canvas, and ability to use technology effectively in job duties
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or similar
• Two years of experience in academic advising/coaching, student retention, or related student affairs experience
• Community college work experience
