Position Summary:
The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Arkansas State University (A-State) invites outstanding candidates to apply for a non-tenure-track Instructor position in Engineering Technology. The position begins July 1, 2025, and is a two-year grant-funded position focusing on teaching and outreach/recruitment of students into the program.
This position involves teaching undergraduate-level courses in Engineering Technology (50% effort) and outreach/recruitment (50% effort).
The position is for a 12-month renewable contract. Each faculty member has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teaching assigned courses within the Engineering Technology program
- Guide students through applied and experiential learning experiences
- Develop new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools at the undergraduate level
- Participate actively in outreach/recruitment for the program and be involved in some service
- Other duties as assigned
This position reports to the Associate Dean, with day-to-day reporting to the program director of Engineering Technology.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work with various robotic platforms, components, and software tools
- Strong understanding of Industrial control systems and automation principles
- In-depth knowledge of PLC hardware and software
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot PLC-related issues
- Ability to motivate and support students
Work Environment:
- Monday - Friday
- 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Additional hours as requested and/or needed
- Regular and reliable attendance is expected
- Some travel will be required

Minimum Qualifications:
