What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Arkansas Support Network?
Who we are: Licensed disabilities service provider for all of Arkansas, with offices in Springdale, Fort Smith, Camden, and Jonesboro. We work with a wide range of government agencies and departments, nonprofit organizations, health care facilities, education agencies, local schools, foundations, businesses, and individuals to provide the most effective and least restrictive supports for people with disabilities in environments they and their families choose for themselves.
What You'll do:
- Provides direct, day-to-day support, services, and resources as defined in the individuals' plan.
- Aids assigned individuals in maintaining their homes in a neat, clean, and safe manner. This involves vigilant adherence to fire and health regulations, oversight of personal budgets, weekly expense records, account balances, and menu planning.
- Supports and aids consumers in various daily activities, including transportation, school/work/community functions, and more.
- Completes required documentation in accordance with organizational requirements. This encompasses emergency files, time sheets, travel logs, calendars, medication records, accident/incident forms, written inventories, Health Professional Visitation Form, petty cash forms, and other necessary records.
- Promotes community engagement, encouraging individuals to participate actively. This involves creating opportunities for skill development, such as communication and adaptability, while fostering a secure and inclusive environment.
- Attends competency-based training as well as ongoing training in 'Best Practices' for individuals with disabilities, as assigned by the supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to, orientation and sponsored training.
What You'll need:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A degree or experience in related fields is a plus.
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks.
- Dedicated attitude to provide support to people with disabilities.
- Flexibility, teamwork mentality, and reliability.
Note: Depending on the individual's disability, the worker may be required to lift up to 50 lbs. or more.
