Arkansas Talent Group is exclusively working with a large nonprofit organization in Little Rock for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and lead a team of accountants. The ideal candidate will have strong financial management skills, and the ability to drive strategic financial decisions.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to maintain sound fiscal management
- Prepare and present timely, accurate financial reports to the board and leadership team
- Manage the annual budgeting process and monitor budget performance
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants and clerks, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Delegate tasks effectively and provide guidance on complex accounting issues
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development of team members
Month-End Close Process
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Analyze monthly financial results and prepare variance reports for leadership
Financial Analysis and Strategy
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making and long-term planning
- Develop financial models and forecasts to guide organizational strategy
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements
- Oversee the annual audit process and tax filings
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and CPA REQUIRED
- 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior role
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and regulations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills
Preferred:
- Experience with grant management and restricted fund accounting preferred, but not required
- Public accounting experience highly desired
- Knowledge of investment management and cash flow optimization
- Familiarity with data analytics and financial modeling tools
- Experience as a Controller or Accounting manager for a large organization 50M
