What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operational Finance position at Arkansas Talent Group?
Arkansas Talent Groups Executive Search Team is exclusively working with a very large Manufacturing Company on a retained basis in Little Rock to help them find a Director of Operational Finance.
This is a newly created position due to growth and will report directly to the COO! This is a unique position that will communicate with Regional Leaders, Plant Controllers, and C-Suite to drive financial performance across multiple manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in manufacturing/operations management, coupled with a strong background in financial analysis for multi-site manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis of the manufacturing operations across three U.S. plants
- Analyze production cost reports including raw materials, labor and overhead expenses to identify cost drivers and recommend strategies for optimization
- Inventory Management: Evaluate inventory turnover rates and recommend improvements to reduce carrying costs and analyze the financial impact of inventory levels on working capital and cash flow
- Variance analysis and reporting of impact on overall profitability and identify root causes of significant variances and propose corrective actions
- Provide insights into how operational KPIs impact financial performance
- Heavy analysis and understanding of: Cost of Goods Sold, Inventory Control, Materials cost leverage, Labor efficiency / costing, PPV, Machine Utilization and efficiency, Cost per pound, Waste analysis, and other Operational Metrics across product types
- Collaborate closely with plant leaders, corporate executives, and finance professionals to drive operational efficiency and profitability
- Evaluate and improve labor efficiency, machine utilization, and overall operational metrics
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce waste and improve costs per pound metrics
- Provide financial insights to support sales channel planning and delivery
- Communicate complex financial data and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Provide commentary around variance analysis between actual results and budgets/forecasts
- Work on other special projects as assigned by COO
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration; Accounting, Finance, Economics preferred / MBA preferred
- 7 years of experience in manufacturing/operations management
- Deep analytical knowledge and skills, with a focus on manufacturing/operations
- Manufacturing experience required, Preferable experience in the beverage, food, or packaging industry
- Proven track record of improving operational efficiency and financial performance in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with corporate, regional, and site operational leaders, finance professionals, plant controllers, procurement leaders, top sales executives
- Ability to give presentation and present findings to Executive Team
- Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling tools
- Experience with NetSuite and large ERP Systems preferred

IN PERSON ROLE- Candidate must live in the Central Arkansas area, or willing to relocate. There is a lot of flexibility in the role, but this is not a hybrid or remote position.
