Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Computer Services provides computer support services for the faculty, staff and students on the Ozark Campus proper, as well as all off-site locations. This position reports to the Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance on the Ozark Campus. This role is responsible for managing cross-functional projects, overseeing IT service management initiatives, and providing technical expertise to support the campus's technology infrastructure and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include management of all hardware, software and campus networking; technical assistance to users; facility evaluation and upgrades; technology purchases and technology systems support. The Associate Director will also be responsible for working closely with the staff in the Office of Information Systems on the Russellville campus to ensure continuity in computer operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of computer hardware, network systems and telephone systems to support an organization.- Knowledge of programming and other software.
- Excellent customer service skills to provide appropriate support services to the campus community.
- Ability to coordinate efforts and collaborate with other IT professionals.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to supervise employees and effectively lead the efforts of computer support services.
- Ability to explain concepts and troubleshoot complex computer problems.
- Knowledge of infrastructure needs for purposes of renovation and new construction.
- Maintain computer hardware inventory and effectively schedule purchases to ensure current technologies are available.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field; plus three years of experience in computer support plus one year of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of work experience in the information technology industry and three years supervisory experience. Work experience in a higher education environment is preferred. Prior experience in departmental budgeting and management is preferred but not required.
Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:
The individual will work in an office setting for a significant portion of the work, and utilize a computer, various software applications and other office equipment. Other work locations will include the data center; and spaces above and below the ceiling, closets, and other areas where computer equipment will need to be maintained. The environment may include office and conference spaces for one or multiple users. The employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods, navigate between campus buildings, use and climb ladder, utilize tools and lift up to 40 pounds.
