Position Summary:
Arkansas Tech University invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track position as an Instructor of Computer and Information Science starting in August 2025. The Computing Sciences division serves 300 students and offers two Associate degrees (AAS in Cybersecurity and AAS in Information Technology), three Bachelor degrees (BS in Computer Science, BS in Cybersecurity, BS in Information Technology), and one Masters degree (MS in Information Technology). The BS in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET (http://www.abet.org/). Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student interactions through advising and student organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach, assess, and develop foundational courses in information technology and related fields with emphasis in web development (HTML/CSS).
Effectively advise and mentor students at the undergraduate level.
Oversee student projects at the undergraduate level.
Engage students in high impact learning practices.
Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service to the university, community, and state.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of and the ability to teach classes in web development (HTML/CSS) and information technology ethics.
Ability to teach fundamental courses in information technology.
Demonstrated skills in both oral and written communications.
Minimum Requirements:
Earned Masters in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely-related field.
Exceptional candidates who are within one semester of completion of a qualifying degree may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching foundational web development courses.
Industry experience and/or certifications related to web development.
Experience in online teaching.
Evidence of excellence in teaching
Participation in community outreach.
