Position Summary :
The Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Arkansas Tech University invites applications for the position of a 9-month non-tenure track instructor of chemistry. The position carries a teaching load of 15 credit hours of lower and upper division classes in chemistry per semester, as well as serving the department, institution and the community, as assigned by the department head. The department currently consists of fifteen faculty members and twelve instructors. Candidates must have at least master's degree in chemistry by the time of appointment on August 2025. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student interaction through advising and student organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Teach undergraduate classes and labs in chemistry.
Engage students in high impact learning practices.
Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service.
Attend the required university, college, department, and program meetings and trainings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Masters in chemistry or closely related fields.
Demonstrated skills in communication, both written and oral.
Knowledge of and / or experience with developing, supporting or implementing innovative teaching and instructional technologies.
Strong desire to mentor undergraduates who are predominately first-generation college students.
Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse groups and populations.
Minimum Requirements :
Masters in chemistry or closely related fields.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in teaching undergraduate level chemistry classes.
