GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The OAB Navigator is a Medical Assistant whose primary focus is to assist patients, providers, and staff in bridging the gaps in continuum of care. The Navigator's goal is to improve operational efficiency of practice and decrease treatment barriers by providing streamlined communication, tools, and resources for patients with Overactive Bladder (OAB).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Navigator utilizes Athena and PPS Analytics on a daily basis to review patient charts via the OAB portal.
- Using approved OAB Pathway, review charts in PPS to ensure patients follow the pathway.
- Sending patient cases in Athena to the appropriate providers staff bucket if there is a need to recommend treatments, labs, or imaging per protocols for the patient.
- Note summary of message in PPS and set an appropriate follow up time under "Next Action" as per OAB pathway.
- Place required OAB pathway updates in Athena ahead of appointments to communicate with clinical team.
- Assist patient in recording bladder diaries as needed per the pathway.
- Routinely meet with all OAB pharma and non-pharma representatives in order to maintain and expand ones knowledge of the products, devices, and other methods of treatment.
- Obtain and utilize useful clinical and patient education material from representatives if needed.
- Assist clinical staff and patients in enrollments for OAB medications. Assist with prior authorizations when needed.
- Assist patients and family members in enrollment for grant programs for medication copay assistance.
- Manage Chronic Care Management calls of OAB primary patients as per CCM protocols.
- Attend OAB training events and meetings.
- Assist other pathway team leads as needed.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Medical Assistant. Basic Life Support Certification. Clinical experience preferred. EMR/EHR experience required.

1. Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
