Job Summary:

• Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and of individuals who have hospital-based outpatient testing and procedures.
• Ensures that the patient information is accurately collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
• Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database.
• Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.
• Participates in performance improvement.
• Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and functions well in stressful situations.
• Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete task(s).
• Maintains a 95% or better registration accuracy rate.
• When work is complete, seeks additional tasks.
• Answers the phone promptly and professionally, and handles calls appropriately.
• Takes personal responsibility to provide exceptional customer service, to promote and maintain a positive image of AVRMC.
• Promotes pride and professionalism in the workplace.
• Accurately posts patient payments to the correct patient account.
• Balances cash and detail batch reports for each individual cash drawer.
• Obtains signature on Conditions of Admission.
• Responsible to collect copays when required and any other type of patient payments.
• Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available.
• Consistently refers patients to Financial Counselor when financial arrangements need to be made.
• Makes general and emergency announcements over the facility’s PA system timely and accurately.

Skill/Educational Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality is required.
• Basic Computer Skills
• Prior hospital registration experience
• Multi-tasking, organizational, problem solving.
• Experience in customer service.
