Job Description
The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking a Bilingual Administrative Services Specialist (English/Spanish) to provide a broad range of services to internal staff and the public, including assisting with a high volume of customer walk-in traffic and telephone calls in a call center work environment, receptionist duties, data entry work, and managing Internal customer requests through Help Desk software. This position will report directly to the Administrative Services Team Leader.

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
Background Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information. A pre-hire federal background check and State of Virginia Central Registry check will also be completed before hire.
An assessment of verbal Spanish proficiency will be required before a candidate can be appointed to the bilingual position. The incumbent in the position will receive the language pay premium on all hours worked and on paid leave hours.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, varying between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Additional hours, including weekend shifts, will be required based on registration cycles of recreational programs and classes.

Responsibilities
Specific duties include:
- Entering large volumes of data into the automated registration and scheduling system (RecTrac);
- Offering in-person and telephone assistance to citizens interested in classes, workshops, special events, camp offerings, programs and facility scheduling;
- Providing information and assistance to customers about fee and payment options, including processing fee reduction applications, payments, auto-debit payments for year-round programs and sending payment reminders;
- Providing customers with alternative classes/camps for eligible applicants, including maintaining and managing program waitlist; and
- Performing administrative tasks, including managing data and compiling specialized reports for staff, maintaining files and records, mailing bills, and creating complex Excel spreadsheets.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Completion of the requirements for graduation from a standard senior high school or vocational school, a GED certificate, or the equivalent; and
- Some experience providing administrative support.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Working in a registration, reservation, or call center environment;
- Receptionist duties and working in a team environment;
- Providing program support in a fast-paced work environment involving stringent deadlines;
- Resolving client’s problems and documenting outcomes in writing; and
- Using Computer information systems, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or graphic design.
