What are the responsibilities and job description for the Indoor and Outdoor Facility Monitors (Part-time/Temporary) position at Arlington County, VA?
The Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking seasonal/temporary Facility Monitors to work in our facilities to support facility operations and programs. Facilities include all community centers and Arlington Public School Gymnasiums in which programs such as youth basketball, adult sport drop in, teen activities, and skate nights occur.
Specific duties include:
- Providing excellent customer service and information to customers via in-person, email, or phone;
- Setting up and breaking down rooms and gymnasiums for programs and events;
- Handling emergency situations and creating incident reports;
- Assisting in the evacuation and/or the response of the facility during emergencies as assigned
- Submitting and reporting game scores;
- Using RecTrac to accept payments, process reservations, and help patrons with various registration and scheduling requests;
- Following all funds handling policies and procedures;
- Participating in staff meetings, in-service trainings and workshops, as required by the position; and Sharing information and referrals about current DPR programs in Arlington County with customers.
The successful candidate for this position will have the following:
- Knowledge of recreational activities;
- Communication skills to provide excellent customer service and information to customers;
- Demonstrated problem solving skills;
- Ability to take the initiative to help others and follow all necessary policies and procedures; and Ability to perform under pressure.
This position will be asked to work alone at times and will he be held accountable for delegated tasks.
Minimums : A high school diploma or GED.
Substitution: Additional education in a related field may substitute for experience.
Desirable: Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Experience in administering recreational programs or facility monitoring;
- Customer service experience;
- Funds handling experience; or
- Sport rule knowledge (e.g.; basketball)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This position must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
- This position may require standing and walking for prolonged periods of time during the work shift.
- The employee must maintain Adult CPR, Child CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
Work Location: Various Arlington Parks, Community and Fitness Centers, and/or Arlington Public School locations.
Work Hours: We are currently in need of facility monitors to work a variety of shifts including early-morning, mid-day, afternoons and evenings. Weekends are required.
