What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outdoor Tennis Instructor position at Arlington Heights Park District?
This seasonal Tennis Instructor position is a great way to learn new skills, while teaching a fun, lifelong sport! Classes and camps run the beginning of June through the beginning of August and can range from 10-35 hours a week. We hope you’ll join our team!
Salary: $15-$17 DOQ
Essential Job Duties
- Implements tennis lessons as designated by the Assistant Tennis Club Manager
- Selects and explains appropriate tennis drills for the size and ability level of each class and demonstrates the appropriate drills and strokes during class
- Accurately “feeds” and retrieves tennis balls during and after the lessons both on and outside the courts
- Upholds the quality of instruction while maintaining control of the class
- Takes attendance prior to the start of each lesson and refers participants who are not on a class list to the desk staff
- Maintains a good working relationship with lesson participants at all times
- Attends work on a regular basis
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum age of 15 is required
- High school student, high school graduate or G.E.D. preferred
- Minimum of one to two years’ experience teaching tennis or playing competitive tennis
- Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience and training
- CPR (Child and Adult), AED and First Aid Certification required within 30 days of employment; CPR, AED and First Aid Certification preferred
