What are the responsibilities and job description for the Starter/Ranger position at Arlington Heights Park District?
Located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Arlington Lakes Golf Club is a community favorite with a strong tradition of quality and service. Operated by the Arlington Heights Park District, we’re looking for motivated, team-oriented, and dependable individuals to join our team this Spring.
This position is seasonal and will average 15-20 hours weekly. This position requires morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend availability.
Salary is $15 per hour.
Essential Job Duties
- Obtains tee time sheets from the Pro Shop Cashier and enters any tee time changes before beginning the shift
- Place flags in cups on the putting green
- Checks golfers’ receipts for appropriate amounts paid, date, and payment for a pull cart or gas cart
- Records cart numbers, group names, number of golfers, number of holes being played, and times of tee-off for each group
- Matches up groups to create foursomes whenever possible
- Directs walk-ons to the clubhouse
- Informs Golf Course Rangers of any possible problem or disruptive groups
- Maintains the cleanliness of the tee and patio area by performing custodial duties, including but not limited to, sweeping, wiping off tables, picking up trash, etc.
- Assists the Golf Course Ranger in informing patrons to leave the course when the lightning detection system is activated
- Monitors daily rounds paid and collects daily greens fees from patrons as applicable
- Additional functions as assigned which may be considered essential
This position must possess the following qualifications:
- High school student, high school graduate, or G.E.D.
- Minimum age of 15 is required
- A valid work permit is required, if under the age of 16
- Minimum of one to two years experience playing golf
- Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
