RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS (May not include all duties performed.)
Serves as key point of contact and knowledge expert for matters relating to discovery, case
management, case management software systems, and routine as well as complex investigations.
Responds to schools and division offices in relation to matters of routine legal inquiries, case preparation, handling of subpoenas and record requests, and other routine issues, with escalation to Division Counsel, as appropriate.
Conducts basic factual legal and non-legal research and prepares legal correspondence for the Division Counsel’s review.
Collects and conducts preliminary analysis of facts and data obtained during investigations or litigation.
Coordinates with outside counsel for document productions, internal investigations, and witness coordination.
Relieves the Division Counsel of routine legal and administrative-related tasks.
Coordinates hearings, dispositions, interrogatories, and other legal documents for the Division Counsel’s review.
Drafts, prepares, and processes correspondence for the Division Counsel’s review.
Coordinates and assists in responding to discovery, search warrants, subpoenas, and other document requests.
Serves as the district’s FOIA officer.
Maintains the Division Counsel’s calendar and case / project timelines.
Maintains legal and case files.
Performs related duties, as assigned or needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to quickly acquire skills in the use of appropriate technology, including litigation support software and case management software.
Ability to prioritize and exercise independent judgment and initiative.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
Proficient oral and written communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS :
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four years of progressively responsible experience as a paralegal or similar experience is required .
