What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer School ESY American Sign Language Interpreter/Cued Language Transliterator position at Arlington Public Schools?
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide American Sign Language interpretation and / or cued language transliteration in varied environments such as : Classrooms, staff meetings, large / formal training meetings, department meetings, IEP meetings, and interactions with supervisors and colleagues.
Effectively facilitate communication between American Sign Language and / or cued language Adhere to RID (Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf) and / or TEC Unit Code of Professional Conduct.
Knowledge of technical signs and / or vocabulary used in educational environments.
Dependable, flexible, and organized.
Collaborative team player with teacher and staff.
Willingness to participate in interpreter training opportunities.
EXPERIENCE :
Experience with simultaneous interpreting between ASL and / or cued language and English.
Interpreting experience in educational settings.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must hold a valid certification :
Virginia Quality Assessment Screening Level III, or
Education Interpreter Performance Assessment 3.5 or above, or
RID Certification.
Competency in English, ASL and / or cued language.
Knowledge of RID (Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf) and / or TEC Unit Code of Professional Conduct.
