JOB DESCRIPTION: Professional Day and Orientation: July 2, 2025 Program Dates: June 30, 2025 - August 1, 2025 Location: Washington-Liberty High School Model: IN-PERSON RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities Include : Coordinate the subject area summer program for high school Work cooperatively with the subject area Supervisor and Specialist, Summer School principals and staff Communicate and collaborate with teachers using a variety of techniques including email, voicemail, and in-person Provide ongoing program support for curriculum and instruction, including conducting assessments of students’ progress Support the high school subject area summer school program by: Assisting with administration of assessments, collecting and compiling data and planning interventions Planning with teachers before and/or after school Conducting regular meetings with teachers and providing necessary staff development Teaching in classrooms as needed Assign, distribute, and maintain an inventory of instructional materials at each school site Coordinate the return of materials and closing of the subject area Summer School Collaborate with other departments to support the needs of all students (including SPED, English Learners) Organize and facilitate common assessments EXPERIENCE: Experience: Previous experience teaching summer school QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Qualifications : At least three years of successful teaching experience in high school, as appropriate Knowledge of high school designated content courses offered in summer school Excellent organizational skills Ability to work and communicate well with colleagues Ability to write memos, reports, and other documents as needed Must be available to work the week prior to the start of summer school CONTACT INFORMATION: Candidates should contact Christine Joy at christine.joy@apsva.us or at 703-228-6141 if interested in this position or have any questions.
