Duties & Responsibilities :
Security Specialist duties will be tailored by the task order but may include any of the following-Responsible for accountability, control, verification and issuance of military identification cards and Common Access Cards (CAC) for active-duty military, Reserve and National Guard members, military retirees, family members and dependents, and other eligible recipients at the Naval War College.In this role, the Security Specialist performs all functions of the Verifying Official while also installing new hardware components, running, and reviewing audit reports, and managing users, security, cardstock, and consumables.Security Specialists control and issue identification tags and Geneva Convention Cards to military personnel, deploying civilian employees, and other eligible recipients.Security Specialists screens military members and their families for their visits and briefs them on relevant policies and procedures.Additionally, Security Specialists maintain the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and the Real-Time Automated Identification System (RAPIDS). Responsibilities include all tasks related to ID Card and CAC issuance, such as researching and reviewing source documents, verifying eligibility, and discussing entitlements as outlined in AFI 36-3026(I) and the RAPIDS Training Guide.Security Specialists also issue memorandums of authorization for using the Commissary and Post Exchange to eligible customers and provide Government ID Cards (DA Form 1602) to qualified Government employees.Routine maintenance on computers and printers is also part of the role, which includes changing ribbons, adding toner and developer, and cleaning printers.The Security Specialist revises and prints correspondence in the appropriate format according to applicable regulations and guidelines and prepares weekly and monthly reports on work activities. They count and record all returned cardstock, ensuring compliance with security guidelines by returning it to the Defense Manpower organization.Security Specialists perform RAPIDS security overrides for document and fingerprint support, mentor and train Verifying Officials, and report daily staff attendance to the chain of command for accountability. Lastly, they maintain keys for building access and all sensitive ID supplies.The Security Specialists will provide support to ensure employees, visitors and contractors are properly cleared and possess proper security badges when accessing the base. The contractor will protect property, materials, equipment and information from danger of terrorism, sabotage, espionage, intrusion and criminal acts.The Security Specialists will detect and observe any unusual or abnormal conditions, assesses the situation and relay that information to the quarterdeck by, radio and or telephone.The Security Specialists will relay messages and dispatches personnel and equipment to meet routine and emergency situations.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) :
Ability to work at an accelerated paceThis position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Minimum / General Experience :
One year experience as a site leader in a customer service environment.Ability to type 25 WPMPrevious CAC or similar government contract employment experience is a plusMinimum Education :
