Primary Position Objectives
The Mail Clerk reports directly to the Director of Security. The role is to manage a mailroom on campus where individuals of the campus community can send and retrieve packages and mail.
Position Responsibilities
- Manages a mailroom on campus where individuals can send and retrieve packages and mail.
receives, sorts, documents, delivers, inspects, and routes incoming and outgoing mail and packages utilizing tracking and mailing systems
Gathers mail from every department and redistributes interoffice mail to appropriate offices / individuals on campusTakes and manages inventory of postal suppliesSupports and answers all postal questions for customers requiring assistanceLogs and processes entire outgoing and incoming special, legal, and certified mailReceives packages from parcel delivery providers (FEDEX, UPS, etc.)Manages, cleans, organizes and oversees entire mailroom operationAssists with campus recycling programBreaks down used boxes from shipping and receiving and prepares for recyclingManages and labels all student mailboxes year over year. Ensures mail from graduated students is managed and sent out accordingly.Prepares packages for mailingLeadership : All UWC-USA employees are expected to provide varying levels of leadership in order to support the UWC mission. Examples include but are not limited to :Actively participating and contributing to committee or task force assignments, providing leadership in campus-wide events or initiatives, strategic planning efforts, in the experiential education program, the dormitories, dining hall, and / or in physical plant initiatives.

High school diploma or GEDStrong organizational skillsStrong verbal and oral communications skills : must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, receivers ,and management to avoid errors in sending mailBasic computer operating skills for mail record keeping, scanning of packages, tracking # lookup, etc...Data entry skillsMust be able to lift, carry and pull up to 60 pounds; ability to push up to 500 poundsMinimal climbing and balancing requiredMust be able to operate the following machines : delivery vehicles, postage metered machine, folding machine, baler, loaded 2-wheel dolly, and loaded pallet jacksMust be able to safely operate a box-cutterLicenses Required
