Armco Credit Union is seeking a detail and numbers-oriented individual to join our growing team as an Internal Auditor. Armco CU is the second-largest credit union in the greater Pittsburgh area and has been steadily growing and adding more services since 1935.
In summary, this position would have responsibility to conduct audits of the Credit Union to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations; provide documentation of the Credit Union's internal control systems; report findings and make recommendations.

In particular, this position would fill these functions and responsibilities:
- Performs audit procedures and recommends enhancements to the Credit Union's operating systems.
- Performs evaluations of the Credit Union's internal control systems by maintenance of permanent files incorporating the risk assessment, policies, procedures, narrative descriptions, memos, etc.; reports findings and recommendations.
- Performs financial audit procedures on the Credit Union's records and reports findings and recommendations.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to staff, management, and Supervisory Committee.
- Prepare various reports including Monthly Audit Summary, Quarterly Report for Supervisory Committee and Risk Assessment and Audit Plan.
Performance Measurements:
- Provide accurate assessments of the credit union's business risks, financial statements, system of internal controls, and level of compliance with policies, regulations and applicable laws.
- Perform audits and prepare audit reports which identify areas of concern, make recommendations, and help facilitate resolutions.
- Keep CEO, Executive Vice President and Supervisory Committee informed regarding key operating issues affecting the credit union.
- Implement, maintain, and recomend improvements in fraud detection program needed to achieve an effective and compliant financial institution operation, investigate allegations of fraud, and review fraud prevention controls and detection processes on an ongoing basis.
- Follow all policies and procedures of Bank Secrecy Act, (BSA) Anti-Money Laundering (AML and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC). Complete on-line testing annually as required.
- Maintain accurate files and supporting documentation for audits and other assignments, such as requests by external auditors and examiners.
- Provide informed, professional, accurate service and support to all members and associates.
- Seek continuing education opportunities to stay informed of regulatory environment and other training programs.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills: Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.
Other Skills: 1.) Solid knowledge in all areas of accounting and audit procedures and the ability to work independently. Certification as a certified public accountant or a certified internal auditor or experience as a financial regulatory examiner preferred. 2.) Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; must be able to use PC and all types of general office equipment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office environment.
