Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, being receptive to new ideas and opportunities and providing support to the departmental staff is required.
- Perform Accounts Receivable/Payable related duties as needed.
- Ensures current documentation of procedures is always maintained
- Perform Accounts Receivable and Payment Assistance Representative related duties to include daily reports, activities, returned payments, returned mail and phone support.
- Performs all functions necessary to prepare, post, verify and record automated and manual payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Receives and verifies documentation requesting policyholder refunds and payment of invoices and prepares checks as required
- Ensures accurate encoding of general ledger account numbers and posting information.
- Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations to validate accuracy of processing activities and to assure compliance with standard accounting practices.
- Handles incoming calls to support customer inquiries and aid with one-time payments as needed.
- Assist and provide support to Accounts Receivable and Payment Assistance Representatives as needed, to include helping with reports, returned payments, making telephonic and/or written contact with insureds or Mortgage Companies as needed.
- Ability to be at work regularly and on time
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of satisfactory job performance as a Senior Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Associate with AFI, or two years directly applicable experience in an accounting/bookkeeping function (Associates Degree may be substituted for this requirement)
- Excellent verbal communications skills, to include a courteous, confident demeanor and appropriate use of grammar and vocabulary
- Keyboard skills of at least 30 wpm
- Operate 10-key calculator by touch
- Ability to learn to utilize AFI’s database for data access and entry
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel and Word
- Ability to accomplish work according to established priorities and procedures
- Successful completion within 90 days of standardized training in Principles of Insurance, Dwelling Coverages, Homeowner Coverages, and Personal Auto Coverages*
