Job Overview
The Fabrication Programmer will be responsible for programming, setting up, and optimizing CNC laser cutting machines and press brakes to produce high-quality sheet metal components efficiently.
Duties
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for laser cutting machines and press brakes based on engineering drawings and specifications.
- Select appropriate cutting parameters (speed, power, and gas type) for different materials and thicknesses.
- Ensure efficient nesting of parts to minimize material waste and maximize production output.
- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines and press brake, including loading materials and calibrating equipment when required.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specified tolerances and dimensions.
- Make necessary adjustments to programs or processes to maintain product quality.
- Identify and resolve programming or machine-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance on laser equipment and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure accurate interpretation of technical drawings and specifications.
- Provide feedback to improve designs for manufacturability and efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of programs, setups, and process adjustments.
- Track and report production metrics and material usage.
Skills
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar), CNC programming software, and nesting software.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal properties, cutting techniques, and fabrication processes.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour
