Description
Responsible for the development and performance of assigned new and existing suppliers with the goal of supporting commodity strategies and production. Drive Supplier On-time Delivery to meet Armorwork’s expectations. Improve inventory turn-around time that enables production to start on time. Reduce scrap and rework through improving Supplier quality. Train and mentor the Purchasing staff to manage placing orders in a timely fashion and following up with suppliers to meet their quoted delivery dates..
Accountable for obtaining the highest quality and achieving total cost of acquisition results
Performance management of the suppliers on responsiveness/delivery, availability, reliability, leadership and technology
Drive the suppliers to assure products and services are at production readiness and operational excellence levels, and access/maintain a supplier’s production and distribution capabilities
- Ensure senior buyers / buyers are split into commodities to ensure expertise across the business
Support Commodity management as required in negotiations, while implementing and closing supply contracts as needed
Create Commodity Strategies as required
Responsible for the effective training and discipline of all suppliers and purchasing personnel
Maintain a professional, productive and disciplinal work environment
Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. degree (Business or Engineering preferred) and a minimum 5 years of management experience
- 10 years previous experience in manufacturing/buying (Steel, raw materials, ballistic material experience is a plus)
- Knowledge and experience on FAR, DFAR, CPSR flow down/requirements
- Ability to work well with people and possess the skills in problem solving, situation assessment and conflict resolution
- Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegation skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks
- Extremely detail/results oriented
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft office
- Experience in MRP/ERP logic/software
Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
