Minimum Requirements for Education, Skillset, Qualifications, and Experience:
To oversee the daily operations of the fabrication plant, ensuring efficient production, safety, and quality standards are met. The Fabrication Plant Manager is responsible for leading staff, coordinating resources, optimizing processes, and ensuring timely delivery of fabricated products to meet customer specifications and company goals.
Assignment Of Functions And Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all aspects of plant operations including production, material handlers (expeditors) and workforce management.
- Execute production schedules, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality or safety.
- Monitor plant performance, analyze data, and make improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste including direct labor utilization, efficiency improvements.
- Lead and develop plant staff, including training, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with other plant locations, program management, engineering, purchasing, EH&S, HR and logistics departments to ensure smooth workflow and material availability.
- Maintain budgets, track expenses, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain for timely material procurement.
- Develop and enforce plant policies and procedures to ensure a consistent and productive work environment.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
Minimum Requirements for Education, Skillset, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)
- Minimum 15 of experience in manufacturing or fabrication, including previous plant manager experience with mechanical products
- Proven experience in managing teams in a fast-paced fabrication or production environment
- Strong leadership and organizational skills. Must be able to effectively communicate up, down and across the organization.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety standards with machining, welding, metal forming
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawing, blueprints, models, work instructions, etc.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience is required, expert certification preferred
- Familiar with New Programs: R&D, EMD, LRIP, FRP, etc.
- Familiar with Defense program requirements such as AS9102, DFARS, etc. along with familiarity with DCMA
- Proficient with production software, MRP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, etc..
