What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER position at ArmorWorks Enterprises, Inc?
Description
Supports the Quality, Procurement, and Manufacturing functions through management of our supplier’s quality performance. Works in a team environment with suppliers to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste, with a focus on continuous improvements to ultimately meet our customer’s requirements. Collects root cause analysis and provides corrective action feedback to prevent AWE line stops due to supply issues. Manages PO flowdowns and offers technical support to suppliers. Responsible for ensuring that supplied products meet AWE’s quality requirements and delivery expectations. Maintain the robustness of product builds following new product introductions to ensure continuity in supplier capability.
Primary responsibility is to develop suppliers for the uninterrupted delivery of material that meets AWE requirements by the P.O. delivery date.
Investigate supplier quality issues to determine root cause, conduct incoming parts inspections as needed, and to identify & implement corrective actions.
Close interaction with AWE’s supply chain team, manufacturing quality, and suppliers to align requirements and expectations. Objectively assist suppliers to achieve quality goals and drive a continuous improvement mindset.
Maintaining key supplier performance metrics on both a monthly and quarterly basis. Distribution of these reports to buyers, AWE leadership, and key suppliers.
Work as a liaison between Receiving Inspection, Quality Engineering, and the supplier base when required documentation has not been included with delivery.
Travel to supplier locations as required.
Organize containment and sorting activities when discrepant supplied material has been identified.
Maintain a supplier database and include initial evaluation and re-evaluation for the approved vendor list (AVL).
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years engineering experience including a minimum of 5 years in Aerospace & Defense or Automotive.
Highly effective technical communicator with strong dimensional & part acceptance criteria knowledge
Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability, and comprehensive understanding of quality toolbox (8D’s, ISO9001/AS9100, GD&T, sampling plans)
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and achieve substantive results
Certification preferred – American Society for Quality, Six Sigma Black Belt, etc.
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, hands-on and data driven, be able to adopt to the dynamic working environment, creative mindset in problem solving
Independent thinker with the ability to provide management with potential solutions and alternatives when issues arise
BS in Engineering, MS preferred
