Description
Purpose:
While projecting a professional image; guide, direct, and coordinate select legal-related functions for the Bank.
Actively engages in the management of the Legal Department staff ensuring accountability and expectations are defined and understood. Routinely uses discretion and judgment to provide consultation and/or expert legal advice to resolve matters of significance for the Bank in coordination with Executive Management.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure that customers and Bankers are assisted by telephone, electronically, or in person by meeting or exceeding Bank standards as identified in the SMILE program.
- Review, examine, and evaluate Legal Department work for timeliness, accuracy and completeness.
- Plan, direct, or coordinate activities of the Legal Department, including providing feedback and guidance regarding laws, policies and procedures in targeted areas of the Bank as directed by Executive Management.
- Ensure that weekly work schedules are valid and completed.
- Develop and train new and existing Legal Department staff members. Recruit legal staff as required in coordination with Human Resources.
- Represent the Bank in court or before government agencies as required.
- Present evidence to defend the Bank or prosecute on behalf of the Bank in criminal or civil litigation as needed or required.
- Argue motions and meet with judges or other legal counsel during the course of a case.
- Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases.
- Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for the Bank in areas as assigned by Executive Management.
- Prepare legal documents in state and federal courts.
- Examine legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit and advise on probable outcome.
- Assist the Special Asset Committee with asset management by coordinating repossession, foreclosure, bankruptcy and other various processes.
- Advise select internal departments on legal matters as directed by Executive Management.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on special and complex matters on a limited basis.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited university and the ability to obtain membership to the Oklahoma Bar Association.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of related work experience with increasingly more responsibility and the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the essential requirements of the job.
- Possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma Drivers License.

- Long periods of standing or sitting, typing and repetitive motion
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs on occasion
