The Project Engineer is responsible for the design, estimation, planning, and execution of industrial fluid projects, as well as overseeing related field service activities. This role includes supporting the Lead Project Engineer in achieving business objectives and stepping in to assume their responsibilities in their absence.
This position is based in Jasper, AL, with occasional travel required across North America as needed.
Key Accountabilities
Project Design and Compliance
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant standards and specifications, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Provide engineering input, including concept designs, technical drawings, and BOM structures.
- Work with internal teams to identify and deliver value-added solutions based on market and customer needs.
Estimation and Tendering
- Prepare accurate project estimates and submit tenders and quotations to clients.
- Assist the sales team in gathering cost information for system components.
- Produce quotations, addressing clarifications on specifications and terms and conditions.
Project Management and Planning
- Manage the planning and procurement of equipment for projects.
- Oversee project timelines, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Review customer contracts to ensure technical details, timelines, and payment terms are feasible.
- Monitor project costs, including interim and final account reviews.
Quality Control and Risk Management
- Monitor project progress and quality during manufacturing and site installations.
- Conduct design risk assessments and identify potential issues.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for a minimum of 10% of projects.
- Identify and resolve design issues during FAT and SAT processes.
Site Support and Installation
- Assist with site surveys and the preparation of RAMS for site activities.
- Supervise site installations to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Provide support during site commissioning and ensure accurate testing documentation.
Collaboration and Mentorship
- Collaborate with the manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and finance teams to ensure project success.
- Mentor and support field service engineers and administrators.
- Provide technical support to clients' field service engineers as needed.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
- Engineering degree in a related discipline (mechanical, design, controls, etc.)
- Related project management experience (3 to 5 years, preferred) in industrial applications such as mining, metal and non-metal manufacturing, oil and gas production, etc.
- Project and team management skills essential.
- Ability to work on own initiative but also be a key member of a team.
- Proven time management capability.
- Software Requirements - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite., AutoCAD, SolidWorks
- Customer service experience
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to manage conflicts within various organizational structures.
- The capability to simplify complex problems, conduct root cause analysis, and provide clear, well-thought-out recommendations.
