The Salary Range for our Facilities Maintenance Technician job is $18.00-$25.00 per hour. Refer to the job description below:
Summary/Objective: The work involves responsibility for performing semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance, repair, and cleaning related tasks and activities which may be performed indoors or outdoors under adverse working conditions. Work may be assigned to multiple buildings. Skilled trade knowledge is not necessary because this position does not normally perform skilled techniques. Maintains a clean working environment for facility(ies). Ensures that the interior, exterior, or both areas of a building are sanitary and free of trash and debris. Performs janitorial tasks such as but not limited to mopping the floor, washing down the exterior and interior windows, washing the exterior of machines (out of operation and/or no moving parts), sweeping floors, utilizing the floor cleaning machine and other tasks as assigned throughout building(s).
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs semi-skilled building maintenance and repair such as: changing ballasts, light bulbs, repairing toilet, patching sheetrock and tiles, and basic painting tasks.
- Performs manual labor related to building and grounds maintenance and repair.
- Paints surfaces, attaches baseboard edging, applies floor coatings, performs basic framing and plumbing (such as replacing toilet stoppers, water level parts etc.), and changes filters are required.
- Cleans by dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, using floor cleaning machine, shovel and supplying designated building areas with bathroom and cleaning supplies.
- Performs exterior building maintenance and cleaning tasks such as but not limited to power washing, removes snow and ice from walkways, putting down salt/de-ice material on walkways etc. during winter.
- Takes part in general grounds maintenance activities such as weed removal and other grounds maintenance tasks as directed.
- Takes out trash and places empty trash bags in the trash receptacles after changing the trash.
- Performs routine check of facilities to ensure conditions remain clean and safe.
- Performs and documents routine inspection and maintenance activities
- Carries out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.
- Notifies management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
- Makes adjustments and minor repairs as needed.
- Stocks and maintains supply rooms
- Follows all health and safety regulations
- Maintains adequate supplies of janitorial consumables
- Completes and/or maintains required reports and records.
- Follows all weekly inspection plans and completes all required inspection and/or cleaning or other assigned checklists and turns these in on time to direct manager.
- Meets quality and quantity standards for the position.
- Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective equipment, and practices good housekeeping.
- Maintains regular on time attendance and adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
- Proactively supports the ISO process approach to quality management and the Syteline MIS system.
- Applies classroom and on the job post training information, knowledge, skills, and abilities consistently in a quality-oriented manner (wherein the KSAs are part of the jobs tasks, duties and other tasks as requested).
- Performs other tasks as directed.
Educational, Experience Based, and Skill Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Three (3) to five (5) years of full-time experience (or its part-time equivalent) in general building construction, cleaning building(s), building maintenance, or repair work.
- Valid Driver's license subject to New York State DMV license check, own transportation to drive to various company buildings in East Syracuse and maintains a valid license and acceptable driving history.
- Able to handle equipment such as a floor cleaning machine, mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners etc. and to use basic tools such as a hammer, shovel, paint brush etc.
- Able to understand simple oral and written direction and interpret work order(s)
- Possesses a mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic tools, and able to use basic tools such as but not limited to hammers, wrenches, sanders etc.
- Attention to detail which assists with keeping the facility clean. Motivated to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision at times, independent and excellent time management skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, reach, stoop, push, and lift up to and including 50 pounds as needed. Work under adverse weather conditions such as but not limited to winter snow.
