Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Responsibilities:
- Providing oversight of the daily operation of the nursing department and the quality of care provided to residents in support of medical care as directed by the medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the facility.
- Implementing and enforcing Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Staff Education
- Wound Care
- Occasionally working on the floor as RN Supervisor when staffing assistance is required.
- Being on call on a rotating basis with the Director of Nursing during the evenings and weekends.
Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Qualifications:
- Education: A graduate of an approved nursing program for professional nurses.
- Experience: Previous experience as an RN in an acute care/long term care setting is desirable. Knowledge of regulations, guidelines and best practices that pertain to long term care also desirable. Possess the ability to plan, organize implement and interpret goals, objectives policies/procedures etc. that are necessary for providing quality of care.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Certifications: Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Physical Requirements: Employee must be physically and mentally able to perform essential job functions which require significant standing, walking, and physical care of residents, including lifting. Talking and hearing essential, near visual and color vision required to detect changes in residents’ conditions.
