POSITION: General Manager
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The General Manager is responsible for all activity at the facility. Responsibilities include the day-to-day operations of a transportation, warehousing and material sales facility; managing the safety of the employee population; managing environmental issues; managing human resources, customer relations, transportation operations; material inventory; general facility housekeeping and equipment maintenance.
RECOMMENDED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
5 years of progressive operational, management and/or supervisory experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and direct all aspects of the material handling and storage operations throughout the facility.
- Plan daily work schedules for personnel to maximize efficiency and productivity while maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
- Manage and direct the cleaning and suitability for use of all equipment and storage areas within the facility.
- Conduct periodic inspections of the equipment and grounds to ensure continued efficient operations and to ensure customer inventory is free from the possibility of becoming lost, damaged or contaminated.
- Communicate and plan inbound and outbound shipments to/from the facility.
- Communicate with customers regarding product inventory and availability.
- Maintain accurate material inventory levels.
- Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment through personal safety inspections, employee training and heightened awareness. Ensure immediate corrective action is taken for non-compliance.
- Oversee equipment maintenance program to ensure equipment is maintained at the highest possible level to ensure equipment availability when needed.
- Coordinate and/or oversee various projects throughout the facility as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience in the transportation, logistics, material handling, warehousing and/or material sales field. Management experience a plus;
- Solid understanding of local, state and federal health, safety and environmental rules and regulations;
- Knowledge of computers including MS Office products;
- Ability to develop reports, policies and spreadsheets using MS Excel and MS Word;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and motivational skills;
- Excellent observation capabilities and attention to detail;
- A satisfactory driving record as determined by the company and a current, valid state driver’s license.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or similar field preferred.
- Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- May be required to work outside in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions including both winter conditions with frequent snow or extreme summer heat and sun.
- Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
