What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT RN, School Nurse position at Army and Navy Academy (Private School)?
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Under the direction of facility director or facility physician, administers medicines (including OTC medicines) and treats symptomatic complaints according to the Standard Operating Procedure guidelines.
- Administers treatment therapies to injured or sick cadets according to the SOP guidelines.
- Document cadet chief complaint & symptoms, monitor and follow-up with additional care as needed.
- Administer medications as prescribed by a physician.
- Check medical administration record (MAR) daily for compliance and accuracy.
- Update MAR with current doctor's orders in coordination with health care providers and families.
- Provide and maintain a log for the daily check of controlled medications.
- Sign off on and destroy out-of-date and discontinued medications
- Maintain documentation of destroyed medications in a file for one year
- Facilitate Academy physician sick calls by triaging patients and following physician orders.
- Facilitate communication with families regarding cadet conditions.
- Implement and execute a daily system of reporting between shifts and to the Director of the Health Center of cadet conditions of concern.
- Coordinate and oversee information between caregivers regarding medical conditions.
- Ensure cadet compliance with ANA facility requirements regarding health matters (i.e. immunizations, physicals, consent to treatment, and insurance).
- Schedules appointments with outside medical services in coordination with transportation, and as directed by facility director.
- Participates in compliance with ANA policies on drug and tobacco testing and treatment modalities.
- Note and maintain a list of medical variances in cadets' charts by health history, and copy to other departments within compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist and support DHC with reports, background information, policies, and investigation of medical information.
- Discusses good health habits and positive choices with cadets.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Current CA State license.
- Current CRP AHA certification.
- Five plus years experience.
- Emergency or Urgent Care background preferred.
- ACLS desired.
- Advanced and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must relate and work with persons of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
- Strong computer and organizational skills and able to work independently.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Current CA State license.
- Current CRP AHA certification.
- Five years of experience, preferred.
- Emergency or Urgent Care background preferred.
