Job Description

• Performs a variety of writing, editing and research duties in connection with the preparation of technical manuals and technical publications on the theory, installation, operation and maintenance of a variety of complex electronics equipment and / or systems.
• Writes and edits technical manuals which involve the latest theories, developments and concepts in the subject area.
• Evaluates and extrapolates technical and engineering source data and presents information tailored to users' needs considering training, education, readability and comprehensibility.
• Prepares contract Statements of Work covering equipment publication requirements tailored to communication / electronics equipment and audience (soldiers) needs.
• Evaluates contractor proposals and serves on Source Selection Boards.
• Conducts equipment publications contractor Start of Work meetings and in-process reviews.
• Edits submitted draft manuals and advises contractors, guiding a project from inception through completion.
• Conducts verifications on equipment using target audience troops and is responsible for completeness and accuracy of manuals and final acceptance from contractors.
• Supervisor outlines general objectives to be achieved.
• Final product is reviewed for attainment of objectives and overall adequacy of coverage and content.
• Communicates verbally and in writing to edit manuals and brief internal and external audiences.

My specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, the ability to acquire and present technical information through independent reading, interviews with subject-matter specialists, observation of tests and experiments, interpretation of blueprints or diagrams, or other appropriate methods. Such experience may have been acquired as a writer or editor of technical reports, articles, manuals, or specifications. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas : Communications, Planning and Evaluating, Project Management, Writing.
