Job Title: Surface Maintenance Mechanic (Title 32)
About the Job
This is a temporary position in the Excepted Service with an appointment factor of not to exceed one year. It is a bargaining unit position.
Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and overhauls major systems, including internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy-duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls.
- Repairs a variety of complex major systems, including engines, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions, and intricate fuel injection systems.
- Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks.
- Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems.
Requirements
- Military Requirements: The compatibility requirements will be waived for a period of time not to exceed one year.
- Selecting official must verify that selected individual is currently assigned to a military unit in the Missouri National Guard and that the selection does not create grade inversion.
- Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion).
Qualifications
- General Experience: Must possess experience, education, or training that demonstrates knowledge of equipment to perform routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and use common tools and equipment.
- WG-10 Specialized Experience: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify various combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment.
Education
This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
