About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Fabric Worker Leader without more than normal supervision. Assisting in repairing and fabricating items that are needed for production, as well as assisting in measuring and fabricating a variety of items such as seat cushions, seat covers, crash pads, door panels, truck tarpaulins, and canvas vehicle covers. I can use waterproof sealer, brackets and bolts and check for leaks in vehicles.

- Physical Efforts: Position requires considerable exertion of arm, shoulder and back muscles in lifting and pulling heavy material across the work tables. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing 20 to 30 pounds and occasionally is required to lift in excess of 45 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Most of work is performed in shop that is heated, lighted and ventilated. Occasionally may work outside or in unheated area. May be required to work on ladders and scaffolds when hanging or installing completed items. The floor is of concrete which is fatigue producing. The shop is noisy making it very difficult to talk above. Incumbent is exposed to the dangers of hand injuries from needles of sewing machines, power shears and other equipment operated. Must wear safety glasses when operating sewing machines and respirators are required when working with fiber-glass.
