Arnall Golden Gregory LLP ("AGG"), an Am Law 200 law firm with offices in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., is seeking a Legal Support Supervisor to lead, mentor, and inspire the Firm’s Legal Support Team. This role is integral in driving innovation and ensuring the team stays ahead of the evolving demands of the legal industry. The ideal candidate will combine a strong foundation in legal support with exceptional project and people management skills, emphasizing continuous upskilling, mentoring emerging talent, and leveraging technology to optimize processes and enhance team efficiency.
Must have at least 5 years’ experience in legal support (i.e., legal assistant, paralegal, word processor, etc.) with at least 2 years in a supervisory or coordinating capacity. Proven results in a professional services environment, including heavy client interface, is a plus. Shall be proficient in the use of word processing and other automated equipment, Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages. Position Reports to: Legal Support Manager and Director of HR
Overall Responsibilities:
Primary duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of legal support professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
- Oversee administrative services provided by the Legal Support Team to lawyers and other legal staff, including day to day workflow coordination, floor coverage, overflow, and overtime
- Collaborate with the Legal Support Manager to recruit and build a diverse and inclusive team, ensuring a mix of experience levels and skills to drive innovation
- In conjunction with Firm Trainer and Legal Support Manager, implement training programs and professional development opportunities to upskill staff, ensuring alignment with industry trends and technological advancements
- Monitor and evaluate team performance, implementing changes to meet evolving organizational needs
- Ensure excellent client service and efficient support of attorneys, paralegals, and other internal clients
- Allocate and manage resources effectively to ensure task needs are met
- Provide quality control of Legal Support Team work product as necessary to ensure deliverables meet firm’s quality standards and expectations
- Coordinate Legal Support Team schedules
- Monitor staffing ratios and manage overtime
- Collaborate with DC office to ensure office support needs are met
- Report regularly to Legal Support Manager on team performance, goals, objectives, projects, and accomplishments
- Provide input to Legal Support Team staff annual performance evaluations, monitor attendance and adherence to firm policy processes/procedures
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned with regard to this position
Required Skills and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of legal support experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a team
- Excellent project management abilities, including planning, execution, and stakeholder communication
- Proficient in leveraging technology and legal software to drive efficiency and innovation
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in navigating through entire Microsoft Office Suite
Competency with the following software, preferred:
- NetDocs or an understanding of a document management system
- UKG or an understanding of HRIS
- BigHand or an understanding of a workflow management tool
Mental/Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Indoor offices with controlled temperatures with limited exposure to noise, dust, chemicals
- Mobility within the office
- May sit for long periods of time
- Standing and walking, as well as occasional crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting
- Operating a personal computer, telephone, voicemail and other office equipment on a regular basis
