Arnold & Itkin LLP (AI) is seeking a driven, self-motivated, detail-oriented appellate attorney to join the firm’s growing appellate section. Based in Houston, AI’s appellate section handles high-stakes appeals in federal and state appeals courts across the country, as well as complex litigation in federal and state trial courts across the country.

Location: 

  • Houston or Dallas preferred; but remote candidates will be considered.


Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of a UBE state bar.
  • Judicial clerkship (federal or state) required.
  • Minimum one year of appellate experience (may include judicial clerkship).
  • Bar licensure in Texas, or ability to become licensed in Texas.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, organizational, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently without significant supervision.
  • Ability to keep track of and complete assignments on time.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Thrive on obtaining favorable results.
  • Willing to work extended hours as needed to accommodate caseload demands.


Duties:

  • Drafting appellate briefs and in state and federal appeals courts.
  • Drafting complex motions and responses in state and federal trial courts.
  • Oral advocacy in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
  • Assisting trial lawyers in legal aspects of pre-trial and trial practice, including jury charges/verdict forms.
  • Analyzing complex legal issues and developing strategies.
  • Special projects assigned by management.
