PURPOSE:
The Operations Inventory Specialist will be critical in managing and maintaining accurate inventory levels, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting our commitment to exceptional customer service. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and enjoys problem-solving.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records by monitoring, updating, and verifying stock levels.
- Cycle Counts: Conduct regular cycle counts of inventory to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and make necessary adjustments in the system.
- Put Aways: Ensure put-aways are completed daily.
- Lost Units: Investigating and problem-solving lost units.
- Order Fulfillment: Assist with tracking and replenishing inventory based on sales trends, demand, and operational needs.
- Receiving and Stocking: Verify incoming shipments, inspect materials for quality and accuracy, and organize products in designated storage areas.
- Data Entry: Accurately record inventory transactions into the inventory management system, ensuring real-time updates.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit inventory reports, including stock discrepancies, overages, shortages, and damaged materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales, operations, and warehouse staff to address inventory issues and support a seamless customer experience.
- Loss Prevention: Identify and address potential inventory losses or shrinkage, ensuring compliance with company policies.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a secure working environment.
All other duties Perform all other duties as assigned, including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
- Experience: Prior experience in inventory management, retail, or warehouse operations (preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in inventory management systems, point-of-sale software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for accuracy.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical skills to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and vendors.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to lift to 80 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and work in an outdoor or warehouse environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience in the lumber or construction materials industry.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification
