Shop Tech (Material Handling Equipment)
Position Overview

With the training we provide, the Shop Service Technician helps Arnold to keep that standing.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Disassemble, clean and reassemble all material handling equipment
- Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks and checking in merchandise
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat; Sweep, dust and mop. Organize work area for orderliness at all times
- Perform routine maintenance on material handling equipment (cleanliness, pre-inspection, etc.)
- Repairing, maintaining, and operating forklifts and material handling equipment
- Ability to use a forklift and overhead crane to handle and move components and parts during the repair process
- Measure and identify parts and components for reusability or replacement, ordering new parts as required
- Use all test and diagnostic equipment available to make adjustments to machines and systems
- Make warranty recommendations and reports in representation of a prime product
- Perform minor welding, fabrication, plumbing alignment and D.C. electric repairs
- Examines forklift, and other material handling equipment, assessing the repair situation at hand, considering your skill level, safety and the hazards of the job will require additional help
- Willingness to help out in other areas of the shop based on work load
Qualification requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1-2 yrs previous experience preferred
- Good communication, organizational, time management mathematical skills
- Dependable and Reliable
- Equipment maintenance, data entry and computer skills may be required
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and overhead crane
- General mechanical knowledge
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain
- Lifting over 50 lbs. frequently
- Hands/arms operating equipment, hand and power tools
- Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools
- Extends hands and arms in any direction
- Climbing in and out of equipment
- Read work tickets, parts and service books and operate material handling equipment
- Communications by radio, phone and in person
- Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and job sites and to receive communication by radio, phone and in person
- Sits in equipment and vehicles
- Lies in prone position under vehicles and equipment
- Ability to work in different weather
