Description
Position Overview
Driver – Class “A” is responsible for making daily deliveries of Company products to customers using Company-provided vehicle. May deliver bulk oil or other merchandise, and/or pick up returns from customers, load and unload the vehicle, conduct pre and post trip inspections, maintain a daily travel log, and handle shipping papers and invoices.
Primary Job Functions
The primary job functions include, but are not limited to:
Transports bulk oil and miscellaneous stock via 18 Wheeler truck
Perform pre trip, and post trip inspections which includes checking gasoline, oil, water, and tires and fills as required. Record any malfunctions of equipment on the Inspection Sheet which is reviewed by the supervisor and Safety Manager
Loads and unloads trucks both manually and using forklifts, pallet jacks or hand trucks
Maintain Daily Log Sheets which includes entering miles and times at each stop. Maintains delivery, truck and driving records by obtaining receipt acknowledgements; recording tracking information; completing driver log and truck performance forms
Possess the ability to handle money from customers and be able to make change if necessary
Present a good image of the company through proper dress and attitude. Maintains safe operation and clean appearance by complying with organization operational policies, procedures, and standards, as well as state and local and DOT driving rules and regulations
Responsible for maintaining a clean vehicle, both on the exterior and the interior
Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, work stations and shipping supply areas neat in the warehouse. Complying with all OSHA and company safety procedures, rules and regulations
Qualifications
Skill Requirements
The skill requirements include, but are not limited to:
Must be able to drive both automatic and manual transmission
Courteous treatment of and assistance to customers
High degree of attention required to prevent injury and damage to self and others when operating a company vehicle
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Work involves continual walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching
Work involves climbing and descending stairs frequently
Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. of weight on a continuous basis
Ability to read and write in English
Must successfully complete background check, criminal history check
Must pass a physical, human performance evaluation, and drug test
Attitude that supports the Company’s goals and values
Must maintain regular and prompt attendance
Must be flexible and willing to work overnights, if needed
Experience Requirements
Education Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred
Certification Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid Texas driver’s license
Must have CDL license with a tanker endorsement
Must have CDL license with a hazmat endorsement with at least 2 years of verifiable driving experience
Must have clear driving record for previous 3 years
