The Professional Development Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Professional Development Assistant in the Washington, D.C. office. The Assistant handles a variety of responsibilities related to the coordination of in-house training programs and retreats as well as provides support to update and maintain internal professional development websites and systems. The Assistant also works with the CLE Compliance Specialist to administer the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs at the firm. The Assistant is responsible for the data entry needs of the CLE programming for both internal and client-facing programs, and provides support for internal and client CLE programs.

As a nonexempt position, this position is eligible for overtime.
The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Assisting with the maintenance of and updates to internal Professional Development websites and online systems, including Arnold & Porter University.
- Managing the program logistics of internal and client CLE programs, including the online platform for virtual events, as needed.
- Assisting with data entry into viCLE, the firm’s CLE tracking database, for in-house and client-facing training programs.
- Generating certificates of attendance, CLE compliance reports, and CLE forms.
- Assisting with applications for CLE credit from state bar organizations and course entry into state bar CLE portals.
- Collecting, organizing, and maintaining CLE records and course materials as directed by the CLE Compliance Specialist.
- Developing internal marketing emails for the Professional Development Department
- Providing logistical support for Professional Development trainings and retreats, including room reservations, catering, and in-person set-up as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of one year of administrative support experience.
- Familiarity with the legal profession helpful.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly in Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, and databases. Experience using PC computers is required.
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team required.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
- Possess reliability, dependability and motivation.
