The Aroostook County Action Program is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Education Support Specialist. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with Teachers in planning, preparing, and implementing all classroom activities and field trips. Your exceptional listening skills and ability to communicate effectively with young children will be essential in facilitating parent engagement through conferences, home visits, and parent meetings.
Essential Duties:
- Classroom Planning: Assist Teacher in planning and implementing programs to meet children's physical, social, emotional, and educational needs.
- Outcome Reporting: Work with Teacher to use outcome reports and IEPs in classroom planning.
- Observation and Documentation: Observe children and document observations.
- Maintenance and Supervision: Prepare and supervise meals and snacks as required by program and/or staffing.
- Center Maintenance: Share in maintenance of center, equipment (inside and outside), and supplies.
- Bus Monitoring: Serve as bus monitor as necessary.
- Reporting: Complete programmatic and Agency reports as required.
- Home Visits and Parent Conferences: Assist Teacher with home visits, onsite visits, and parent conferences; work with Teacher and parents to develop individual plans for children based on screenings and observations.
- Staff Supervision: Oversees staff and volunteers in absence of the teacher.
Requirements:
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience working with children in a childcare setting required.
- Skill Requirements: Excellent listening skills, ability to use Microsoft Office applications and other computer software as applicable to the position, communicate with and relate to young children, and work with a diverse population.
- Education and Knowledge Requirements: High School education or equivalent, Current CDA, minimum of 60 college credits, with at least 36 credits in Early Childhood and in process of attaining a college degree, Ed Tech II Certification, BHP may be required, Head Start Performance Standards, Child Care License Regulations, First Aid and CPR certification.
- Other Requirements: Ability to work a flexible schedule, must pass required background checks, must hold current C.H.R.C., must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and provide proof of insurance.
