Job Summary:
The Aroostook County Action Program seeks a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Teacher Aide. This role is designed to work cooperatively with teachers in planning, preparing, and implementing all classroom activities and field trips.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in planning and preparing classroom activities and field trips
Record observations of children and assist in planning programs to meet their physical, social, emotional, and educational needs
Prepare and supervise nutritious meals and snacks as required by program and/or staffing
Share in maintenance of center, equipment, and supplies
Serve as bus monitor as necessary
Complete programmatic and Agency reports as required
Assist with home visits, on-site visits, and parent conferences
Requirements:
Less than one year of experience working with children in a child care setting required
Excellent listening skills
Ability to communicate with and relate to young children
Work with a diverse population
Read, analyze, comprehend, and apply written procedures
Current CDA and in process of attaining a college degree
First Aid and CPR certification
Ability to work a flexible schedule and pass required background checks
Physical Requirements:
Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
