AMHC is seeking a compassionate Peer Recovery Coach to help individuals on their journey to recovery from addiction. This position provides non-clinical services designed to support individuals in establishing and maintaining their recovery, using a recovery-based approach that emphasizes respect, self-direction, and empowerment.
As a Peer Recovery Coach, you'll provide peer support, assist with connecting individuals to community resources, and help remove barriers to treatment. Your dedication will play a crucial role in assisting individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) as they work toward a healthier, more independent life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate Recovery-Based Values: Model and teach recovery skills and maintain optimism about recovery.
- Linkage to Services: Engage with individuals at recovery centers, behavioral health centers, shelters, and law enforcement, helping them access necessary treatment and community resources.
- Recovery Coach Activities/Interventions: Provide emotional support, teach coping skills, and advocate for individuals' needs. Model effective recovery strategies and communication skills.
- Community Engagement: Help educate families and communities about recovery, reducing stigma.
- Adherence to Policies: Ensure compliance with agency guidelines and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements:- Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- At least one year of recovery experience or lived experience with someone facing substance use disorder.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to self-identify as someone in recovery and to connect with individuals in similar circumstances.
